What is compressive?

Compressive means something can get squished or squeezed without breaking.

Imagine you have a soft sponge, when you press it, it gets smaller, but it still stays the same on the inside. That’s like being compressive!

Like a Sponge in Your Hand

When you squeeze a sponge, it changes shape, but it doesn’t rip apart. It just gets flattened or shorter. That's compression, the act of squeezing.

Now think about your favorite pillow. If you sit on it, it squishes down, but when you get up, it bounces back. That’s also compressive!

Not All Things Are Compressive

But not everything can be squeezed like that. Try squishing a brick, it doesn’t change shape much, and it might even crack. Bricks are not very compressive.

So when something is compressive, it means it can be squished or pressed down without breaking, just like your sponge or pillow!
