What is credibility?

Credibility is like having a friend who always tells the truth and keeps their promises, you know you can count on them.

Imagine you have two friends: Liam and Zoe. Liam says he’ll bring candy to school tomorrow, but he never does. Zoe says she’ll bring candy, and every time, she does. You trust Zoe more because she keeps her word, that’s what gives her credibility.

Why Credibility Matters

When someone has credibility, other people believe them because they’ve shown they can be trusted before. It's like when your teacher says, “We’re going to have a test on Friday,” and you know she always keeps her promises, so you study hard!

If someone doesn’t have credibility, like Liam, it’s harder for others to believe what he says. You might think, “He said he’d bring candy before, but he never did. Maybe this time he won’t either.”

So, credibility is about being trusted because you’ve shown people you can be relied on, just like Zoe!
