What is cytoplasm?

The cytoplasm is like the busy city inside a cell where everything happens.

Imagine you have a toy city, little cars zooming around, people walking on sidewalks, and buildings going about their business. That’s kind of what the cytoplasm is like in a cell. It's the space inside the cell, not including the nucleus (which is like the mayor’s office).

In the cytoplasm, there are tiny roads called organelles, these are like different parts of the city doing specific jobs. For example, some organelles make energy for the cell, just like power plants in a city.

The cytoplasm is mostly made of water and has little helpers called proteins, which act like workers who fix things or carry messages around the city.

When the cell eats food, it breaks it down in the cytoplasm. It’s like how your stomach turns food into energy you can use, the cytoplasm does something similar for the cell!

So, the cytoplasm is the busy place inside a cell where everything moves and works together, just like a toy city!
