Flu is when your body gets invaded by tiny invisible guests that make you feel really sick.
Your body is like a castle, and flu viruses are like sneaky little spies trying to get inside. When they get in, they start doing things that confuse your body’s normal workers, like your nose, throat, and lungs, making them feel tired and sore.
How flu spreads
Flu can spread when someone who is sick coughs or sneezes, sending tiny drops of saliva into the air. If you're nearby and breathe those in, the spies might land on your body and start their work too!
What flu feels like
When flu viruses are inside your body, they make it feel like a party gone wrong, your nose starts running like a waterfall, your throat gets sore like it's been burning, and you get so tired that even playing with toys feels hard.
Sometimes, your fever kicks in too, making you feel hot all over. But don’t worry, just like how your body fights off a cold, it can also beat the flu spies with help from rest and maybe some medicine.
Examples
- Your neighbor has a runny nose and a fever, that's the flu.
- You feel tired and achy after eating a sandwich.
