Fluctuation is when something goes up and down, just like your favorite toy might go up and down on a swing.
Imagine you have a bag of marbles, and every time you shake it, the marbles jump around, sometimes they pile up in one corner, other times they spread out all over. That’s fluctuation, how things change from one moment to the next, not always in the same way.
Like the Weather
Think about the weather outside. One day it's sunny and warm, and the next day it's rainy and cold. That's fluctuation too! The temperature and the kind of weather are fluctuating, going up and down like a seesaw.
When You're Playing with Blocks
If you’re stacking blocks to build a tower, sometimes they all line up neatly, that’s calm. But if you push them just right, they might fall over in a wobbly way, that's fluctuation in action! It's how things move and change, not always staying the same.
Examples
- A child’s mood changes from happy to sad and back again, that's fluctuation!
- The temperature outside goes up and down throughout the day.
- Your heart beats faster when you run, then slows down, that's a kind of fluctuation.
