Focused means paying close attention to one thing at a time, just like when you're really into playing your favorite game and nothing else matters.
Imagine you’re sitting in a room with lots of toys, cars, blocks, and a shiny new robot. If you're focused on building the tallest tower with blocks, that’s all you see, hear, and think about. You don’t notice the robot winking at you or the sound of your brother playing with cars nearby.
What happens when you’re not focused?
If you suddenly start playing with the robot too, you're no longer focused on building your tower, now you're splitting your attention between two things. It's like trying to eat a big bowl of cereal while also solving a puzzle at the same time, it’s harder to do both well.
Why being focused helps
When you’re focused, you can do one thing better because all your energy is going into it. Just like how you can count 10 cookies faster if you're not distracted by a noisy dog barking in the background!
