What is gatekeeper?

A gatekeeper is like a friendly doorman who decides who gets to enter a special place.

Imagine you're trying to get into a super fun playground, but there's a big gate in front of it. The gatekeeper stands at the gate and asks each person coming in a question, like “Do you have a ticket?” or “Are you wearing your favorite shoes?” Only if they answer correctly do they let them through.

Sometimes, the gatekeeper is very strict, and only a few people get in. Other times, they’re more relaxed, letting almost everyone pass.

In real life, a gatekeeper can be like a teacher who checks homework before you go to recess, if your work is done, you get to play!

Sometimes there are multiple gatekeepers, each asking their own question. You have to answer all of them to get through the gate and into the fun place.

So, a gatekeeper helps keep things fair or special by letting only certain people in, just like the doorman at the playground!
