What Is Cortisol?
What Happens in Hypocortisolism?
In hypocortisolism, your body doesn’t make enough of that energy drink. So when stress comes around, you might feel tired, confused, or even sick. It’s like if you had to run a race but didn’t get your energy drink, you’d probably trip and fall!
Sometimes, this can happen because the part of your brain that tells your body to make cortisol is not working right. Imagine it's like a chef who forgets to add sugar to your cake, it just doesn’t taste as good!
Examples
- Imagine your body's stress button is broken, so you can't handle everyday pressures like a big test or a tough day at work.
- Your brain tells your adrenal glands to make cortisol, but they just don't listen.
