What is individuation? It’s when something becomes one unique thing, instead of just being part of a bigger group.
Imagine you have a big box of lego bricks, all the same size, shape, and color. They’re like a bunch of little friends who don’t know they're special yet. Now, if you put one brick on the table by itself, it’s still just a lego brick. But when you start building something with it, maybe a tower or a car, that brick becomes part of something bigger. That's individuation in action!
When Things Become Special
Think about your toys at home. Each one is unique because of how you play with them. Maybe your teddy bear gets hugged every day, and now it feels extra cozy and special, that’s like being individuated! It’s no longer just a soft toy; it's your favorite buddy.
Or think about your classmates. At first, they’re all part of the same group, the class. But when you start doing things only you do, like drawing pictures on the board or telling jokes, that’s individuation happening in real life! You're becoming you, one unique person among many.
