What is joke?

A joke is a fun way to say something surprising that makes you laugh.

Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy, and you think it's just a regular toy. But then, poof!, it does something silly or unexpected, like talking or dancing. That’s kind of what happens in a joke: someone says or does something normal at first, but then it turns into something funny.

How Jokes Work

A joke usually has two parts:

  1. A setup, this is the part that seems normal or serious.
  2. A punchline, this is the surprising or funny part that comes after.

For example:

  • Setup: "I went to the doctor because I was tired."
  • Punchline: "He told me to stop being a zombie."

It’s like when you're waiting for your favorite ice cream, and then suddenly it turns into a rainbow, surprise! That's what a punchline does.

Jokes are like little surprises that make you giggle or even laugh out loud. They help people feel happy and connected, just like playing with your best friend!
