What is Micro-level?

Imagine looking at the whole world through a tiny, powerful magnifying glass. That is the micro-level. It means focusing on just one small piece, like looking at a single brick instead of the whole wall.

Think about a giant LEGO castle. If you stand far away, you see the whole castle. That is the "big picture" or macro-level. But if you pick up one red LEGO brick, you are at the micro-level. You are looking at that one specific block. In real life, economists use the micro-level to study what happens to one person or one business. It is like checking if your favorite ice cream shop is making enough money to stay open, rather than looking at all shops in the country.

When we study the micro-level, we ask questions like: "Why did this one farmer raise the price of apples?" or "How did one student choose what to eat for lunch?" It helps us understand the choices that single people or single companies make. It is the difference between looking at the entire ocean and looking at one drop of water. By studying the small drops, we can understand how the big ocean is made. So, micro means small, individual, and specific. It is the close-up view of everyday life.
