What is NASA's Artemis program trying to achieve?

NASA’s Artemis program is like a special club that wants to send people back to the Moon, and this time, they want to stay for good.

Think of it like building a treehouse. Before, we just visited the Moon for a few days, like going on a short trip. But now, with Artemis, NASA wants to build a treehouse, or even a whole campsite, so people can live and work there for longer periods.

Going Back, but Better

The first step is sending astronauts back to the Moon. This time, they want to make sure everything works well, like checking if the treehouse is strong before letting more kids use it.

Later on, they plan to send even more people, including the first woman and the first person of color, to live on the Moon for a while. It’s like having a whole group of friends stay in the treehouse so they can play and explore together.

Eventually, NASA hopes this will help us prepare for traveling even farther, maybe all the way to Mars one day!
