What is ninety?

Ninety is like having almost all your toys out to play!

Imagine you have a big box full of 100 tiny toy cars, that’s a hundred. Now, if you take out 10 of them and put them back in the box, you’re left with ninety. That means you're playing with almost all your toys! It's like having a really big group of friends for a party, everyone is there except for just a few.

If you count from 1 to 10, that’s easy, it’s like counting your fingers. But when you get to ninety, you’re almost at the end of the first full set of counting! It's like being close to finishing a big race before starting the next one.

You can also think of ninety as ten groups of nine, just like how ten groups of ten make a hundred. So if you have 9 apples in each basket and there are 10 baskets, that’s ninety apples!
