What's Inside the Moon
Imagine you have a cookie with three parts: the outside is a crunchy layer, the middle is soft and chewy, and deep down there’s a gooey center. That’s kind of how the Moon works! The crust is like the crunchy part, it’s the outer skin we see. Below that is the mantle, which is softer and more squishy, like the inside of a cookie. Deep in the middle is the core, which is like the gooey center, it might even be hot!
How We Know
Scientists use special tools to “listen” to the Moon, kind of like how you can tell if your snack has layers by tapping on it or biting into it. They also study rocks from the Moon that came back to Earth. These rocks helped us figure out what’s inside, just like a detective uses clues to solve a mystery!
So now we know the Moon isn’t just one solid piece; it has layers, and each layer tells its own story. The Moon is like a giant layered cake, and we’ve figured out what’s inside it, sort of like finding out what’s in your favorite snack by looking at its layers.
