A quorum is like the minimum number of friends you need to play a game, without enough friends, the game can’t start.
Imagine you and your friends want to decide where to go for pizza. If only you show up, you can't agree on anything because there’s no one else to talk to. But if at least half of your friends are there, then you have a quorum, and the game, or the decision, can begin.
How it works in real life
In school, sometimes the class needs to vote on something, like choosing a new teacher. If only 3 kids show up out of 20, that’s not enough for a fair vote, that’s like having only one friend showing up when you need more than half to play.
But if 10 kids are there (which is half of 20), then they have a quorum, and the class can make a decision. It's just like needing enough friends to start playing your favorite game, without them, the fun doesn’t begin!
