Responsiveness is how quickly something reacts when you touch, tap, or ask it to do a job.
The Toy Box Test
Imagine you have a favorite action figure. When you push it, does it fall over right away? If yes, it is responsive. If it waits five seconds before moving, it feels slow and annoying. Now imagine talking to your mom. If you say "I'm hungry" and she says "Okay, what do you want?" within two seconds, that is a responsive conversation. If she stares at the wall for ten seconds before answering, you feel confused.
Fast vs. Slow
Here is the difference:

When a computer or phone is responsive, it feels like a good friend who listens and answers fast. When it is not responsive, it feels like a sleepy turtle who moves very slowly. You do not want to wait for your toy to move or for your screen to show the next picture. You want things to happen now.
Think of responsiveness as the speed of a high-five. If your friend’s hand is ready and meets yours instantly, that is responsive. If their hand is still in their pocket three seconds later, that is unresponsive.
