What is Revising?

Revising is like when you build a tower with blocks and then decide to make it taller or more colorful.

Imagine you're building a castle out of blocks, that's like writing your first draft. But sometimes, after you finish stacking all the blocks, you look at it and think, “Hmm, maybe I can make this part bigger or change the color of these blocks.” That’s when you start revising, it’s like taking some blocks out and putting new ones in to make your castle even better.

Why We Revise

When you revise, you’re not starting over. You're just making little changes to help your story or idea shine more brightly. Maybe the beginning doesn’t feel right anymore, so you rewrite that part, it’s like giving your castle a new front door.

Or maybe you added too many blocks in one place and want to spread them out, that's like rearranging parts of your castle to make it look balanced and pretty.

Revising is just like playing with your blocks again after you've already built something cool, you're making it even cooler!
