What is shelter?

Shelter is a place where you can stay safe and comfortable, just like your favorite blanket on a cold night.

Imagine you're playing outside, and it starts to rain. You run inside your house, that's shelter! It’s anywhere you go when you want to be protected from the weather or tired after a long day. Just like how your bed is your special place for sleeping, shelter is your special place for resting and staying safe.

Shelter can be a big house, a small tent, or even a treehouse! Think about when you go camping, you put up a tent, and that becomes your shelter. It keeps the rain off you and lets you stay warm inside, just like your room at home.

Sometimes, animals also use shelter. A bird might nest in a tree, and that’s their cozy home. Just like how you have a bed, they have a nest to rest in.
