Stochastic means something happens by chance or randomness, like when you roll a dice or flip a coin.
Imagine you have a bag full of different colored marbles, red, blue, and green. If you shake the bag and pick one marble without looking, you don’t know which color you’ll get. That’s stochastic, it depends on luck.
Like a Wobbly Walk
Think about walking across a wobbly bridge with lots of stepping stones. Each time you step, you might land on a stone that moves a little, sometimes left, sometimes right. You can't tell where you’ll end up after ten steps. That’s like stochastic movement, it's random and unpredictable.
A Game of Chances
Stochastic is like playing a game with chances. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It’s not always the same, that’s what makes it fun!
When things happen by chance or randomness, we say they're stochastic.
