Imagine you're playing with your friend on a big circular playground, that's like the sky. The center of the playground is where you stand, and the edge of the circle is where the Sun’s azimuth starts. If the Sun is right in front of you, it's at 12 o’clock, or 0 degrees. If it moves to your left side, it might be at 9 o’clock, or 90 degrees, like when you’re facing north and the Sun is on your left.
How we measure azimuth
Think of a clock face in the sky:
- When the Sun is straight ahead (like noon), it’s at 0 degrees.
- If it moves to the left side (like late morning), it could be at 90 degrees.
- When it's behind you (like sunset), it might be at 180 degrees.
