Light is what makes things visible and lets us see the world around us.
Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy in a dark room, you can't see it very well, can you? But as soon as you turn on a light, like a lamp or a flashlight, everything becomes clear. That's because light is like a messenger that travels from things to our eyes, telling us what they look like.
How Light Works
Think of light as tiny helpers, little messengers called photons, zipping through the air like ants on a path. When these photons hit something, like a ball or your favorite picture book, some of them bounce back and travel to your eyes. Your brain then turns those signals into colors and shapes, so you can see everything clearly.
If there's no light, like at night when it's dark, the messengers don’t have anywhere to go, so you can't see as well. But with a little help from light, everything becomes bright and clear again!
Examples
- A child sees a rainbow after the rain, wondering why it appears.
- Someone notices that light from a lamp can be blocked by their hand.
- Light is like a message that travels from one place to another.
