What is umbrella?

An umbrella is like a big, stretchy raincoat you hold above your head to stay dry when it's raining.

Imagine you're playing outside on a sunny day, and suddenly the sky turns gray, and droplets start falling from the clouds. That’s when you grab your umbrella, open it up with a flap, and stand under it like a little shelter. The rain hits the top of the umbrella instead of you!

An umbrella has a frame, think of it as the skeleton, made of sticks or bendy pieces that hold up the fabric, which is like a big piece of cloth. When it rains, the fabric catches the raindrops and keeps them from falling on your head.

People use umbrellas so they don’t get wet when it's raining. Just like how you might wear a coat to stay warm in the cold, an umbrella helps you stay dry when the sky is crying.
