What is upward?

What is upward? It’s when something moves from where you are to the top.

Imagine you're playing with a ball in your hands. When you throw it up into the air, it goes upward, like it's trying to reach the sky! That’s what upward means: moving toward the top or higher than where you started.

Think of climbing stairs. Every time you step on a new stair, you're going upward. You start at the bottom floor and end up at the top, that's moving upward!

Or imagine a balloon floating in the air. When it goes higher and higher into the sky, it’s moving upward, just like your ball.

You see upward all around you, in things that go from low to high, from bottom to top!
