What is Yom Kippur War?

Yom Kippur War was a big fight between two groups of countries, like when kids in the playground argue over who gets to play on the swings.

Yom Kippur is a special day in the Jewish calendar, kind of like a birthday party for forgiveness, people say sorry and try to be better. But during this war, it wasn’t a happy time; it was a fight.

There were two main teams:

• The other team was a group of countries called the Arab States, like the kids who want to play on the swings too.

On Yom Kippur, these Arab countries surprised Israel by starting a big fight, it was like when someone jumps out from behind a tree and says “gotcha!” while you’re busy saying sorry.
