What is zenith?

The zenith is the very top point something can reach, like when you’re on a swing and you go all the way up.

Imagine you're outside on a sunny day, playing with your favorite toy ball. You look up at the sky, and right above you, there's a spot where the sun seems to be the highest it can get. That’s the zenith, it’s like the top of a ladder that goes straight up from the ground to the sky.

Like a Swing

If you’re on a swing and go all the way up, that’s your zenith, the point where you're as high as you can get. Just like how the sun reaches its highest point in the sky at noon, when it's shining straight down on you.

A Ball Going Up

Think about throwing a ball into the air. At first, it goes up, up, up, and then it stops for just a moment before falling back down. That stopping moment is the zenith of the ball’s journey, its highest point in the sky. The zenith is the very top point something can reach, like when you’re on a swing and you go all the way up.
