Books are like puzzles. Some have only a few pieces, so they're easy to solve, these are the simple books. Others have hundreds of pieces that look similar, and it's hard to know where to start, those are harder to read. The words can be tricky too! If the sentences are long or use strange words, it might feel like you're trying to solve a puzzle with no picture.
Examples
- A picture book with simple words like 'dog' and 'run' is easy to read.
- A story about space with words like 'astronauts' and 'planets' might be harder for a little kid.
- Long sentences that have too many parts can make reading feel confusing.
