Sometimes stories feel like they're happening right in front of us. When we see a character going through something hard, like losing someone or being brave, it makes us feel what they're feeling. That's why we cry, because the story becomes real to us.
Examples
- A little girl watching her favorite movie character lose their parent cries because it feels like it's happening to her too.
- When someone sees a dog being brave in a movie, they might cry because the story reminds them of their own pet.
- A person laughing so hard at a funny scene that they almost cry from joy.
