Who is Descent Stage?

Descent Stage is like a special robot that helps something land softly on another planet.

Imagine you’re playing with your favorite toy car. When it goes down a big hill really fast, it might crash, but if there’s a soft mat at the bottom to catch it, it lands safely. That’s what the Descent Stage does for a spaceship going to Mars or the Moon.

How It Works

The Descent Stage is part of a bigger robot called a lander. When the lander gets close to the planet, this special robot starts working. It uses big legs or pads to slow down the landing so it doesn’t crash, just like how your toy car lands gently on that soft mat.

Sometimes, after it helps land the spaceship, the Descent Stage stays behind and can even move around a little to do some cool jobs like taking pictures or digging in the soil. It’s like the brave friend who helps you get down the slide safely at the park, and then stays there to play with you too!
