Building microchip manufacturing plants is like building a super-detailed LEGO set, but instead of playing with it, you're making it from scratch, and it costs a lot of money.
Like Building a Tiny City
Think about how your favorite toy has lots of tiny pieces that all have to fit together perfectly. A microchip has millions of these tiny parts, like a tiny city with roads, buildings, and lights all made from super-small materials. To build this city, you need special tools that can do things like paint the roads with light or drill holes smaller than a grain of sand.
It Takes Big Tools and Big Spaces
These tools are like giant, high-tech robots, they're very expensive to buy and use. Plus, the factory has to be really clean, cleaner than your bedroom before mom checks it, so you can't even sneeze inside! This means the buildings have to be super special, with lots of fans and filters working all day long.
Also, once everything is built, you need a lot of electricity, like what powers your whole house, but for a factory that's as big as a football field. That’s why these plants are so expensive to build!
