Sometimes, people say 'I love you' even if they don’t really mean it. It's like when you tell your friend you love their new haircut, just to make them feel good, you’re not saying it for real. This happens because we want to be liked or keep a relationship going, and sometimes we use words that sound nice, even if they aren't true. It’s kind of like wearing a costume at a party, the 'I love you' is the costume, and it doesn’t mean the person behind it isn’t being fake.
Examples
- A boy says 'I love you' to his crush just because he wants to impress her, even though he doesn’t really know her well yet.
- A parent says 'I love you' to their child before bedtime, even if the parent is stressed about work.
