Imagine you're on a roller coaster. Some people scream, and others laugh. It's the same ride, it’s all in their minds! When we say ‘It’s all in the mind’, we mean that how you feel about something depends more on your thoughts than on what’s actually happening around you.
Why Does This Happen?
Sometimes, even if things are hard, believing they're easy can make them easier. Like when you think you're brave before facing a fear, it helps you do better.
Examples
- A child cries when they fall off a bike, but their friend laughs and says it's just a little bump.
- Someone eats the same cake every day, one person finds it delicious, another is bored by it.
- Two friends watch the same movie: one thinks it's scary, while the other thinks it's hilarious.
