Sneezing when you see bright light is called a photic sneeze. When someone sees something very bright, like the sun or a flash of light, their eyes send a signal to their brain. The brain then tells the nose to sneeze! It's like your body has a special alarm that goes off when it gets too bright.
Examples
- A child runs out from a dark room into the bright sun, and sneezes right away.
- Someone wearing sunglasses takes them off in a bright place, like outside on a sunny day, and immediately sneezes.
- A person sees a bright flash of light from a camera’s flash, and then sneezes.
