Imagine you're counting jellybeans in a jar, they come to an end. But some numbers, like π (pi), never stop! They keep going forever with no pattern, just like a never-ending story. These are called infinite numbers. If you write out π, it goes on and on: 3.141592653... and so on, there's no end in sight.
Examples
- π (pi) is used to calculate the circumference of a circle, but it keeps going forever: 3.1415926...
- √2 is the diagonal of a square with sides of length 1, and it also goes on forever.
- If you try to write out 1/7, it repeats every six decimal places, but irrational numbers never stop.
