Why Do Some People Fall Asleep Easily and Others Struggle?

Some people fall asleep easily because their bodies know it's time to rest. Like a bedtime story, their brain gets sleepy signals from special chemicals called melatonin. Others are still thinking about the day, like leaving a party and trying to remember everyone’s names, so they can’t shut off their brains as quickly.

The Sleep Signal

When it gets dark outside, your body starts making melatonin, which is like a magic sleepy pill. If you’re calm and relaxed, that signal reaches your brain faster, and sleep comes easily. But if you're still excited or stressed, the signal takes longer to work its magic.
