Some people fall for scams more easily because they believe the scammer, or they don’t know how to check if something is real. Imagine you get a message saying you won a prize, but you have to pay a fee first, if you're excited and don't think about it carefully, you might send money right away. But if someone else checks for clues or asks questions, they might spot the trick.
Examples
- A child gets a message saying they won $10,000, but they have to pay for shipping first. They send money without checking if it's real.
- An old man gets a call from someone claiming to be his son in trouble. He sends money right away, not knowing it’s fake.
- A teenager receives an email saying their favorite game company is giving free gifts, but they have to enter their credit card details.
