Why do we crave sweets after eating?

Your body is like a hungry little monster that wants more treats even after you’ve had some already.

Imagine you're eating a big plate of pizza, it's delicious and filling, right? But then your brain says, “Hey, I want something sweet now!” That’s why you might reach for a cookie or a candy bar.

Why does the brain say that?

Your stomach is like a team of workers who are eating the food. When they finish their job, they send a message to your brain, saying, “We’re done with this food, time for something fun!”

But sometimes, your brain gets confused and wants another treat because it thinks you didn’t get enough sweetness yet.

What happens when you eat sweets?

Your brain lights up like a birthday party! It says, “Yay, more sugar!” That’s why after eating, even if you're full, the thought of something sweet can feel like a special surprise, and that makes your little monster happy again.
