We laugh when we’re nervous or with friends because our body has a special way of reacting to fun and stress.
Laughing is like a happy dance inside your body, it makes you feel good, and sometimes even silly! When you're with friends, it’s like playing a game together: one person starts giggling, and the next thing you know, everyone's laughing too. It feels like a wave of happiness that goes through all of you.
What Happens in Your Body
Your body has little helpers called nerves that send messages to your brain. When something funny happens or when you're feeling nervous, these messages make your muscles contract, just like when you squeeze a sponge. This makes you cough, snort, and giggle.
When you’re with friends, the laughter spreads from one person to another, like a chain reaction. It’s like when you push someone on a swing: they go higher, and then it's your turn!
Sometimes being nervous can also make you laugh because your body is trying to calm itself down, just like how taking deep breaths helps you feel relaxed.
