Why Do We Have Two Nostrils?

We have two nostrils so we can breathe better and catch more smells from all around us.

Imagine you're playing hide-and-seek in a big room. If you only had one eye, it would be harder to find your friend because you'd miss parts of the room. That’s kind of like having just one nostril, you’d smell less clearly and might not notice when something interesting is coming your way.

Think of each nostril as a special door for air to come in. When you breathe, air goes through both doors at the same time. This helps you take in more air all at once, like having two friends help you carry a big backpack instead of one.

Also, your brain uses both nostrils to figure out where smells are coming from. It’s like when you close one eye and see things differently, using both eyes gives you a better view, and using both nostrils helps you find the source of a smell more easily.
