Why Teeth Matter
How Smiling Evolved
A long time ago, people used to smile in different ways. Some showed their lips, others showed their eyes, but showing teeth became the most common way because it made people feel more connected. It's like when you laugh with your friends, you all show your teeth, and that makes it more fun!
Over time, showing our teeth became a sign of being happy or friendly. Now, when we smile at someone, we often show our teeth to say “I like you!”, just like how a dog shows its teeth when it's excited to see you!
Examples
- An animal shows its teeth to scare others, like how humans use smiles in social situations.
- When someone laughs loudly, you can see their teeth, which makes the emotion more visible.
