People in different places speak different languages because they lived apart from each other for a long time. Just like how you and your friend might have different ways of saying the same thing, people in faraway lands developed their own special words and sentences. Over many years, these differences became bigger and bigger until we had whole new languages.
Examples
- A group of children on an island learn to speak a new language that no one else knows.
- Grandma tells her grandchild stories in the old way, but now she uses new words from another country.
- You can understand some Spanish because your neighbor speaks it and you heard them talking.
