Imagine a giant toy box that holds almost the whole world. The Roman Empire was like that box for money, food, and goods. They didn't have fancy computers or banks like we do today, but they were very smart about how they managed their stuff.
Where Did the Money Come From?
Most of Rome's wealth came from farmers. These people grew huge amounts of wheat and olives. But there was a secret helper: slaves. Slaves did the heavy lifting in the fields and mines, which meant Rome could grow more food and dig up more gold without paying workers big wages.
How Did They Share It?
Think about your neighborhood. If you have too many apples and your neighbor has no shoes, you can trade with them. The Romans built great roads so they could move goods easily from one place to another. A farmer in Spain could send wine to a soldier in Britain. This busy trading made everyone richer.
Why Did It End?
Sometimes the toy box breaks. Wars cost too much money, and the leaders didn't collect enough taxes to pay for the army. Also, new diseases spread through the cities, making fewer people able to work. The wealth didn't disappear, but it became harder to keep everything running smoothly.
