You stay up late because your brain wants to play one more game, even when you're tired.
Imagine your brain is like a toy box full of fun toys, each toy is something that makes you laugh, think, or feel excited. When it's time to go to bed, your brain says, "Wait! I have some really cool toys left!" So instead of going to sleep right away, it grabs those toys and keeps playing.
Your body, on the other hand, is like a sleepy puppy, it wants to curl up and take a nap. But your brain doesn't listen at first. It's like when you're told to stop playing with your favorite toy, but you just can’t help it!
Sometimes, your brain even tricks you by saying, "Just 5 more minutes!" Those 5 minutes turn into an hour, or two, before you finally fall asleep.
Eventually, your body wins the battle and you drift off. But until then, your brain is too busy having fun to notice how tired it really is!
